Reconnecting with the voice as an intuitive tool was one of the great “aha” moments of 2024. Yet in everyday life, we tell ourselves that the voice isn't an incredible thing, we use it all the time non-stop and, last time I checked, its function doesn't go beyond expression, communication or music.
In Yoga of the Voice, we've discovered a whole new side to the voice. We're less interested in the sound itself and its musical structure than in its vibratory essence. This can result in incredible harmonic group sounds, or a super-strange cacophony that frees each individual to find his or her own unique voice, while being supported by the group.
In a nutshell. I've got lots to share on the subject. You asked me quite a few questions at the end of the workshop. How did you learn to sing? And to play these instruments?
🧬 The songs played with the drum come intuitively from shamanic cultures. That's how I started seriously documenting these approaches. It can be impressive to find such ancestral chants in a session, but know that when I sing it comes on its own, from my heart and from letting go.
🪐 In Yoga of the voice and sound (instru), it's all about proposing a journey into our inner forgotten lands.
For the instruments, I have a conservatory background and flute of about 8 years which must play a little but in fine it's more a question of meditative and vibratory expressive exploration.
So, some people want to talk about a shaman, a yogi, a healer and so on.
But I'm not about words, titles or defined concepts. I am simply a human in existential exploration.
For in embracing one's humanity lies the discovery of the mystical nature of all things.
